Raq n Waq is no longer simply the local billiard, we are the local bar/lounge and we have become a ...

My boyfriend and i went this past saturday night to attend a friends birthday. I'll keep this straight forward. If your playing pool, make sure to ask for a table that isn't next to the wall. The table we had was so close to the wall and a table, you could not make a proper shot without hitting something. if you want a booth, i do not recommend the one right beside the dance floor. The speakers are right above it and you can't hear anything people say or are constantly yelling. the speakers are very one sided in this bar- it's not so loud on the other side of the room.

My last complaint is definitely the bouncers-which i read many complaints about before going. After telling my boyfriend his clothes were not appropriate for their dress code, he would not tell us what their dress code actually was. He just stated "this" and pointed at my boyfriend from head to toe. Then he said they can "work something out" implying he wanted my boyfriend to pay him to let him in the bar. My boyfriend had on black prada boots, ripped jeans, a sweater and montclair vest. He looked very handsome. The bouncer eventually let us in (without paying him) after asking my boyfriend to put his jeans over the tongue of his boots. It just sucked being hassled with a line behind us. Not to mention after we got inside, people were wearing converse sneakers, leaf jerseys, and hoodies…bad form. The internet states they are a casual dress attire.
This bar only gets 3 stars from me, and the only reasons are because the music was awesome, and we still and an amazing time with our friends. Let's face it, it doesn't matter where you are, it's the people you are with!! But i definitely wouldn't go back.

Poor baby, not your mackage jacket... There are people starving in the world. Pick your battles.

Coat Check

Coat check people do not know how to handle jackets. They dropped my mackage coat and grasped the coat by it's fur.

It was my first time at the raq last night with my friends and co workers but i lost my cell phone. Please i'm begging the person who found my cell phone to please return even just the identification i had in my phone case. You can contact me at louelajeff@yahoo.Com

Agree with everything below. The doorknob-- err doorman, as in the bouncer, was a nozzle and a half and never have i ever been treated so poorly in my 22-year life in canada. All over a $3 coat check. Fyi i was at the bar since about 7pm anyways so i'm not too sure how that works -- especially when there's no one else there on a thursday night. I don't ask for much and i expect even less, when it comes to going out and spending my money on a good time, but the least i expect is a little respect. I was not shown any on thursday night. I would not recommend to anyone with self respect.

Need new staff

I agree with the comment below. After asking why I was being forced to coat check my jacket the bouncer told me I should "know my place" because he was from Scarborough and shouldn't ask questions. I asked for a manager, complained, and left after seeing that there were only 40 people there.

Absolutely HORRIBLE bouncers

I went to this club to meet with some friends that were already there. When handing over our ID at the top of the stairs, my girlfriend handed her ID to the bouncer and absentmindedly walked a little further in, past him to look at the place (a common thing for anybody to do really). The bouncer absolutely LOST it. He started screaming "YOU DONT WALK BY ME!! ALL OF YOU, OUT, YOU'RE NOT** GETTING IN THIS CLUB TONIGHT!" I said I think there's been a misunderstanding, nobody was trying to ignore the process here, she just absentmindedly walked in, as lots of people do. I apologized several times and tried to appeal to his better senses, that maybe he was having an off day and tried some comradery with him. He would have none of it and was still screaming in my face and insisting we couldn't come in. I explained I had people inside and that we were sorry for any miscommunication. He brought up the race card, that as a "black man" he had to stand up for himself and not be disrespected. What a disgusting showing of zero class, and I can't understand why they'd keep a loose cannon at the door to their club when he'd so easily turn away business for no reason other than his own power trip. I won't be going there ever again.
