Brunswick House Reviews
take notes..
submitted by Susan T for Brunswick House on May 22, 2015
Susan is the worst manager this place has seen, she is driving a historical establishment into the ground. Between her constant over serving patrons, her inability to bring people into the bar, and her skin condition that is unsanitary for everyone around her.. She should be banned from the place. We all remember those brunny neknominations you posted online... Slow clap for the manager that you are..

I don't know what happened to this place over the last year but it has literally become one of the consistently worst bars in the city. the crowd is horrible...If there even is one! Security has no control over this place. The staff and management are lost and have no idead what they are doing. it's ten dollars to get in if you are wearing a jacket. i wouldnt be surprised if this place is closed in the next 6 months after being open for so long.
Thiefs!!!

Seven dollars to get into a place that should be paying me to come there. i was robbed by the bartender and the manager backed it up as well. i could clearly explain how it went down, i wasn't drunk and when i complained this manager if you want to call her that, she basically accused me of lying. never again.

Jacket Stolen From Coat Check
submitted by b for Brunswick House on May 10, 2014
This club is the worst i've ever been too. It looks run down and dirty on the inside and the bouncers are just rude. I was there last week and my jacket was stolen from coat check, the manager gave me his number and told me to call him on monday to see if the jacket was found, and if it wasn't found he promised to reimburse me for it. I called several times on monday, tuesday and saturday with no answer and i checked their operating hours online, only to find that they are not even open on mondays. They steal your stuff and lie to you and judging by all the previous reviews i'm not the only one who has been through this and more.
Ex employee

I used to work for this establishment for a number of years. It is infested with cockroaches that managers refused to deal with. We would find them in the dishwasher, ice wells, in the corners of the bar mats, on the bar, crawling up the pillars, on the lights; only to name a few. Customers constantly complained about cockroaches in their drinks in which we would just hand them a new one in hopes they would keep their mouth shut to the board of public health. In addition to this there is mould in all the ice wells and on the shelves where the glassware is stored. The fruit we get shipped in is frequently filled with mouldy limes and lemons. We were instructed to use the ones that are the least mouldy or just wash off the mould. The last time this place was inspected, there were cockroaches on the bar beside the inspector and the manager placed a box over top of them to hide them from the inspector. Some how they passed the inspection. This establishment needs to be shut down. The amount of health code violations they have are endless.
Refused entry for having a ticket, work that one out.
submitted by TA for Brunswick House on February 9, 2014
Was refused entry for having my ticket on my phone and not printed despite being exactly the same as a paper ticket, so after checking with various bouncers, started going home. Crazily enough there was an internet cafe still open just down the road, so i went in, printed my ticket and returned. One (genuinely decent) bouncer took me up to the front of the queue and handed my ticket to the man on the door, who subsequently tore my ticket up in front of me before telling me i had been kicked out, despite never actually making it in! This was the same man who bribed the two (presumably underage) girls in front of me into letting them in, he was completely set on ruining my night!
I'm usually a big fan of the brunny, but this has definitely tainted my opinion of it
Drunken confusion leads to outlandish stories(kelly's post)
submitted by sims for Brunswick House on January 25, 2014
The post above by kelly is absolutely false and exaggerated. I was there that night having a smoke. What you forgot to mention was that ur douchbag guy friends were cursing out the bouncers at the front door for being kicked out by other bouncers. Then the bouncer approached the cab which scared everyone in the cab as if he hit someone. You then ran out and punched "not pushed" another bouncer in the face thus you were restrained for the cops so they could press charges against you. Ur dumbass was offered a chance to wait inside in the warm but ur inebriated ass refused. I hope people read these reviews with a grain of alcohol induced salt....
Other than that..The music is good on occasional nights, some days its the same songs in the same order....
Cheap drinks and good time with friends
i was harrassed and abused by bouncers
submitted by kelly for Brunswick House on December 15, 2013
Worst place i have ever been to. My 2 guy friends wwere aggressively pulled off the dancefloor for defending my girlfriend from this guy who was harrassing her. Bouncers threw them out...Got their jackets from coat check...Stepped on the jackets and threw it in their faces. 10 minutes later we stepped in a cab to go home, a bouncer from the door came and punched my friend in the face and ran back inside. Angrily i left the cab and pushed a bouncer...Bouncer picked me up by my arms and threw me againist the wall and held me there. Yelling in my face that i was going to jail and that his sister and her girls are coming to kill me. As i was being trapped in a corner for at least an hr outside (in -15 weather) waiting for the cops, the security gaurd just kept threatening me. The other security gaurd who "trapped" me was making moves on me...Very uncomfortable as i was not allowed to move. My friend was videotaping everything untill one security gaurd grabbed his phone and threw it across the street. Once the cop came he let us go. This was the worst experience i have ever had. I am bruised all around my arms, armpits, and around my ribcage from being thrown against the wall. I do not advise anyone to go to this torture place they call the brunswick house.
Racism
submitted by Bad time for Brunswick House on September 22, 2013
Good place to spend the night. But be careful the bouncers are good at stealing your stuff and holding you reliable. Like "starting trouble" even if you are waiting for a cab and "causing trouble" even if you are leaving the place. Good place good music but they need to get red of the whole "mafia" bouncers. We are not living in the 1920s or are we? change the bouncer to a respectable people who don't start trouble or steal your things and this place is amazing.
They will do whatever they want
submitted by Anonomys for Brunswick House on June 28, 2013
The brunny is the worst. My friend was giving me some change to buy a slice of pizza down the street and out of no where i was grabbed by the neck and brought to the kitchen area where i was thrown to the ground by 6 bouncers demanding "where the drugs were". Being a little drunk and not having anything on me, this put me into a state of utter confusion. After emptying my pockets and them finding nothing, they proceeded to kick me out. After leaving, they refused to give me back my key or hat which was lost during the ordeal in the kitchen area, and refused to let me get it, obviously. also if you like fat girls, go here.
THE BRUNNY'S WILL STEAL YOUR STUFF AND ABUSE YOU
submitted by Karen Q for Brunswick House on May 16, 2013
I don't usually give negative reviews, and i hardly ever review at all, but the brunny's will steal your shit from coat check...Sometimes they will outright steal your coat if it is nice enough (ie. Canada goose) and say that they are not liable because "how do we know you checked in your coat?" (when in fact it is mandatory). then if you are a tiny girl like me, they will get their giant fat asshole women employees to literally grab you on each end, one on the neck, one on your legs and stretch you out like a medieval torture chamber. then, they will literally drag you to the floor. if you tell the cops what they did in detail (which i did), they will tell you they have the right to do that because it's their property. this is not an isolated incident. ask 10 people who has been to the brunny's and i'd say at least one will tell you a story like this. you have been warned.
A pretty good night out
submitted by Cubone for Brunswick House on December 28, 2012
Pros:
-Decent drink specials on rail drinks
-Close to the bloor/danforth line
- Guy/Girl ratio is about 50/50
-Good dancing
Cons:
-Draft was skunky tasting
- Washroom attendant selling perfumes, condoms, lollipops was out of place and awkward when most people just want to get in and get out
- Mandatory coat check and dumb coat-checker(s) *already mentioned in another post
-Coat check line at any given time is 30 minutes+ which is bad if you are planning to catch the last subway
Summary: Overall, a pretty good place. If you are 19-25, you will have a fun night here.

Go to the Brunny!
submitted by Amelia for Brunswick House on May 27, 2012
You're always guaranteed a good time at the Brunny. Saturday nights especially, it's usually packed and the crowd is pretty mixed, but probably more on the younger side (19-23). It's sometimes a fall-back for my friends and I... as in when other clubs turn out to be pure shit (which they usually do) we just head straight over here. Not a bad place at all for a casual night out!
