Big Fun Productions presents * Rockit Reunion * Sat.April.22Digging deep into the depths of Toronto's underground, we bring you the long-awaited, highly-anticipated "Rockit Reunion!" featuring original resident DJ, Chico U!
Club Rockit at 120 Church St. was always very well known in Toronto's punk circles... It wasn't until DJ Chico U started his Friday night residency back in '94 that the venue opened up to a much more diverse crowd of music lovers. What started off as a very intimate night showcasing early classic house, R&B, hip-hop, reggae, and everything in between, quickly became one of the go-to spots in the city for a proper dancefloor beat-down by one of Toronto's most versatile DJs.
Friday nights at Rockit with DJ Chico U at the helm eventually reached legendary status, with capacity crowds every Friday night. What began as a predominately Filipino crowd, soon blossomed into a night enjoyed by all races and walks of life. The music connected all of us then, and it connects all of us now!
20+ years later... music lovers & dancers, hip hoppers & housers, breakers & shakers, divas & dons, old schoolers & yes, new schoolers too - Join us on April 22nd at Remix Lounge as we take a trip back in time to pay tribute to the gone, but never forgotten, Club Rockit, and to celebrate the birthday of one of Toronto's most beloved disc jockeys, Chico Umengan!
