Ame Restaurnt (which means "rain" in Japanese) features a modern Japanese menu and is the Japanese relaunch of "rain". An extensive sushi & sashimi menu as well as a custom built Robata grill allows diners the choice of enjoying a casual dinner or a multi course dining experience. Diners can choose to sit at the sushi/sashimi counter, in the lounge or the main dining room.Ame's spacious bar and lounge has an innovative cocktail program as well as an extensive scotch and sake list. Our Mixolgists take our cocktails seriously, squeezing our own juices, making our own bitters and infusions, and using seasonal ingredients to creative delicious drinks. Our bar and lounge area delivers an experience within itself.
Ame Restaurant is located in the heart of the entertainment district in downtown Toronto. The building is a historic landmark and was once home to the first
women's prison in Toronto.
Ame Restaurant is a timeless, modern space that fuses cultural tradition with a modern point of view to create a place that is warm, spacious and striking.
Envisioned by Toronto nightlife pioneer Charles Khabouth with world renowned culinary personalities Michael and Guy Rubino; and fashioned by the artistry of interior designers Munge Leung with graphic design partners Device222 - AME is a unique take on contemporary Japanese gastronomic experience.
Tucked away on Mercer Street - Authentic solid oak entrance doors give way to a hidden temple of cocktails, saki and new interpretations of old world delicacies. Ame Restaurant's rich compositions and contrast provide strong visual impact in what was otherwise a very simple space.
Brightly coloured silk kimono fabrics against sleek black leather, custom graphic murals, polished concrete flooring, reclaimed wood, and hand hewn wood plank are just a few of the contemporary materials that add dimension and visual interest while combining form and function throughout the space.
