Forget plagiarizing a press pass, pulling strings to get guest-list and definitely leave your tuxedo at home; our TIFF launch party is a massive one-night experience free of clipboards and +1s. Meet us at Drake @9PM on Sept. 5th for our annual building-wide bash. Whether you choose to arrive dressed as a 70s London rocker or a mod, walk the black carpet as we kick off our Festival festivities. Sponsored by Budweiser Crown, Stella Artois, Beefeater 24 and Jameson- get ready for an interactive Drake party like no other.You'll be heading down the road and Down the Line as we pay homage to all things rock and mod, gritty over glam, vintage underground music scenes and more here in the west end. Back by popular demand, head upstairs to Drake's Room 222, which will be transformed into a tattoo parlour providing free tattoos to help get further into character (if you dare). We mean it: get inked in the moment; a rocker impulse if ever there was one. Amidst all the activity, Keys N Krates take to the stage in the Drake Lounge for a very special performance before a secret DJ set from a critically acclaimed producer begins Underground. Drake will reveal its full launch party line-up as TIFF approaches; an announcement you won't want to miss.
The Budweiser team will be on hand for you to sample the malt which will be made on site, a key ingredient of musicians' beverage of choice (beer!) and Toronto-based Brazilian artist Baby Steinberg presents her project “Silence Film”, a series of wearable artworks and elaborate gowns made from knitting and crocheting together era-appropriate VHS tapes film. You’ll surely be hearing London Calling.
